I love to paint children, animals and nature and create thoughtful, narrative scenes that express a certain mood or a character’s feelings. Whether it’s an illustration assignment, a commissioned portrait, or a personal painting I’m creating, it will likely have people and animals in an outdoor setting, and suggest a story to the viewer. I hope my art inspires empathy and respect for children, animals and our natural environment.

In my 30+ years as an illustrator, I’ve illustrated more than 24 picture books, as well as book covers and magazine stories. I increasingly spend time on my own paintings which are exhibited in local galleries. I accept commissions for custom portraits of people, pets, favorite places or things.

I enjoy teaching art to individuals and groups, in my home as well as at Pat Rini Rohrer Gallery in Canandaigua, NY.

When not in the studio, I’m an avid reader. I play piano and love hearing live music. I have two grown children that I’m overly proud of.  I enjoy hiking with my husband and our two rescued dogs in the woods surrounding our log home in western New York’s Finger Lakes region.
